This is a recent testimonial from one of our customers. This customer has had a geothermal system installed for a few years, and is letting us know what his costs to heat and cool his home are. This is not an unusual letter, we get many comments about how efficient and comfortable geothermal systems can be. Please let us know, or e-mail us with your comments!

Subject: the high cost of heating!!
AND SEE HOW NIPSCO LIKES THIS!!!! ------
total electric bill for 2004 [American
Electric Power] [Jan to Jan]
$841.69 = $70.14 per month
[closed in ground loop
geothermal heat, 50 gal. elect. water
heater--geothermal assisted] heat/cool
3900 sq ft [upper and all of
basement]
3 car garage [foam block
walls] not heated never dropped below 45 degrees]
[3
9X7 R-15 garage doors] I
keep the thermostat at 72 for heating and the
basement [vents to furnace open] stays at
70.1 For cooling, thermostat is 76
and I shut the vents off for the
basement and it stays at 69
propane used [Aug to Aug] 100 gal @ $120 per gal = $120 =
$10 per
month
[gas cloths dryer, cook
stove, and fireplace]
TOTAL ENERGY USAGE gas and electric = $961.69 or $80.14 per month TOTAL
electric used for just lights, TV, etc. was about $45 to $50
per month
[based on lowest
heating/cooling months bills like May or Sept] leaving
electricity used for heating/cooling $20 to $25
per month [average]!!!!
[Gas use not counted for heating since fireplace is
used very little and the
cloths dryer or cook stove does little to
supplement house heat.]
REVA DO YOU HAVE ANY OF YOUR OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT CAN
BEAT THIS?????
[oh by the way I have never
had the resistance heat kick on! that is the
way I like it ---GOOD JOB]
